Battlefords Concern for Youth is seeking a full-time CONNECTIONS Coordinator

Position Overview:
CONNECTIONS is a program that provides support to children, 5 to 12 years of age, and their families where children are engaging in activities that would constitute a criminal offense if they were 12 years of age or older . With a pro-active approach, the CONNECTIONS Coordinator will assist the family to access needed supports; develop and implement a plan that keeps the child at home and engaged in positive activities. CONNECTIONS plans will vary from family to family and may include activities for parents; activities for children; activities may be both independent and together.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Coordinator will also attend regular committee meetings with the CONNECTIONS committee who oversee referrals and assist in services and supports for the children and families. The CONNECTIONS Coordinator will liaise with local service providers to maintain an updated directory of services available as well as to support families in the program to access services. The Coordinator must be flexible with hours of work as evening and weekend hours may be required. The program supports parents/care givers to understand and to access a variety of supports for school-age children under the age of 12 years.

Employment Terms:
Job Length: Permanent Full-Time (37.5 hours per week)
Wages: $20.00 – $24.00 per hour based on experience.

Applicant Requirements:
Applicants must have a minimum Grade 12 with preference given to those with post-secondary education and/or experience in a field of social sciences or human services. You must possess strong interpersonal skills; the ability to make public presentations; have strong computer skills including past experience in data collection, documentation and report writing.

Applicants should have sound knowledge of child development, parent-child relationships, variable family dynamics, parent and child resources in the community as well as the skills and patience to assist others to develop these skills. You will be required to maintain confidential notes and provide regular written reports. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they are culturally aware and sensitive to maintaining the dignity of the families receiving supports. Applicants should possess training that would enhance their ability to problem solve. This would be knowledge of family resources and support services in the Battlefords as well as training in First Aide, ASIST, MHFA, etc.

There is a requirement to have a criminal record check, vulnerable sector check, have a valid class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s licence with a clean driver abstract as well as a reliable vehicle.

Battlefords Concern for Youth has moved to the second floor of 1102 – 101st Street. Adjacent to the ARC and upstairs in the Scotia Bank Building. We have doubled our programming space and now have four private mentorship spaces to better serve children and youth of the Battlefords.
